Undomestic Goddess

undomestic-goddess
I just finished this fun book last night. I really rather enjoyed reading something that wasn’t heavy. I like to intersperse my heavier reading (Neuromancer for book club, for example) with lighter reading.

Sophie Kinsella’s Undomestic Goddess is a good chick lit read with some heart.

Girl power – ✓
Romance – ✓
Disaster and then Patching Up – ✓
Lies & Deception - ✓

It has all the hallmarks of a Kinsella novel. The heroine makes a mistakes, lies to cover it up, gets caught in said lie, finds a guy, loses guy, gets guy back, the inevitable happy conclusion.  It’s formulaic. It’s been done a few other times. But the formula is so heart warming. It’s easy. It’s completely chick lit. And it’s easy to read.

Sophie Kinsella also makes some good points about doing what you love. It’s a great, cute read. However, even though the ending is happy it leaves you wanting much more!

Grade: A (Acceptable)
