The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

the_girl_with_the_dragon_tattoo-large2

I finally (after a busy end to summer and beginning of the school year) finished up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. To say I was blown away would be an understatement. The book is perfectly paced, intelligent, beautifully written (considering it is a translation), and grabs at you.

The plot hides horrors upon horrors until the very end. It’s how it all comes together that is masterful. In normal suspense drama novels, the end you see coming or it turns somewhat blasé or trite. This book has many different endings to many different problems. Not one of them comes across as trite. You feel vindicated at the end of the novel.

There are moments of the book that seem a bit awkward or stunted or too long (yes all three), but those moments are fortunately brief and do not mar the overall impression of the book.

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Grade: E to O (Exceeds Expectations to Outstanding)
